Camping in the Shire of Esperance

The Shire of Esperance and the Department Of Environment and Conservation manage a number of public campsites situated in beautiful coastal environments.

They have been established as low-key campsites suitable for one or two day stopovers.  Facilities at these campsites are basic.

Coastal Camping Tips

Campsites within the Shire of Esperance are situated in fragile coastal country.

You can help to preserve these areas by following these simple guidelines.

·      Deadwood is an essential part of the ecosystem, providing homes for lizards and insects and in stabilising the soil, please leave it where it belongs. (Fires are not permitted in DEC Campsites)

·      Stick to the formed beach access points.

·      Take a portaloo to campsites without facilities.

·      Take rubbish home

When four wheel driving

·      Always keep your vehicle in 4WD on sandtracks.  Wheel slip quickly leads to track degradation.

·      Reducing the pressure in your tyres is the easiest way to negotiate very boggy sections.

·      Please ensure that you leave campsites and surrounds as you found them.

·      Stick to existing tracks.

Please Help Us....

...if you witness other people littering, lighting illegal fires or vandalising campsites make note of the vehicle registration number and contact the Shire Rangers as soon as possible Ph. 9083 1533 or the Department Of  Environment and Conservation, on ph. 9083 2100
